The second release from Simon of his Limited Edition prints has been released.
Grand Canyon #2 joins #1 in the Limited Editions Shop.
Here's what Simon said about the two images:
"Neither of these images have been purchased before so they are the first two in my Grand Canyon series. I wanted to create images that show the nature of the canyon in all it's detail and grit! These look magnificent on a large scale, something I've always wanted to do because as a teenager I saw the work of Ansel Adams in an exhibition in London. Now don't get me wrong, I'm in no way comparing myself to him. Never! But I recall walking up the stairs into the exhibition, the first image I saw was of Half Dome in Yosemite. It was one of Ansel's large prints, and when I say large you could wallpaper one side of a room with this print. But the thing that struck me was the way you could reach out, and touch the stone. The detail, texture, feeling of the old stone was there. It blew my mind, and that was it. I wanted to take monochrome images, and I wanted to reflect upon his influence on me as a photographer.
It wasn't until a lot later that I had the opportunity to explore part of the Grand Canyon. You feel very small and young compared to what is there. Millions of years in the making, you gain a perspective of the lack of importance you have in the grand scheme of things. Our time on this planet is minuscule compared to what you see in the canyon.
I've tried to bring the detail out, and in both images I feel they reflect this. The mist in #2 that floats across the image being caught by the light, and then the grit and detail of the rock in #1."
Both of these images are limited runs with the combination of sizes running to 65 in total. Each image is professionally printed, numbered, and certified. A record is held for traceability and archive. Once they are sold out, that's it!
